House Rules \ Animal Welfare

Purrfect Space is first and foremost a co-working and wellbeing space, designed to support focus, calm, and routine, for both people and cats. The presence of cats is intentional and enriching, but it is not the primary activity. These guidelines exist to protect the wellbeing of our resident cats and to ensure a respectful environment for everyone sharing the space.

Co-Working Space House Rules

A space for work, not a cat café -

Purrfect Space is a working environment. Guests are expected to attend with the intention of working, studying, or creating, just as they would in any other co-working space. This is not a playground or a social cat café. If you are looking for a more playful or social experience with cats, we recommend visiting a cat café instead.

Cats may be present around you while you work, and their calm presence is part of the experience, but guests should not attend with the intention of spending extended time playing with or interacting with the cats.

Respect shared focus

Please remain mindful of other guests. Excessive interaction with cats during working hours can be disruptive to both people and animals. Brief, gentle interactions are fine if a cat approaches you, but stopping work to actively play with cats is not permitted outside designated relaxed periods.

If a guest is repeatedly disturbing others or the cats, our team may step in and, if necessary, ask the guest to leave. This is to protect the shared working environment and the wellbeing of our animals.

Gentle interaction, always on the cats’ terms

We never force cats to interact. Guests may only interact with a cat if the cat chooses to approach them. Please do not call, follow, pick up, or wake sleeping cats. If a cat settles near you, gentle strokes are welcome as long as the cat appears relaxed and content.

Cats live here. Their need for rest, boundaries, and personal space must always be respected.

Designated relaxed break periods

We understand that everyone needs breaks, and guests are free to step away from work at any time. However, we offer specific relaxed periods called ‘’Soft Hours’’ during the day when interaction with cats is more welcome, provided it remains calm and gentle.

These periods are intended for quiet enjoyment, not energetic play, and guests should still remain mindful that others may continue working.

Soft Hours time slots:

●  Morning: 9:00 – 9:30

●  Midday: 12:00 – 1:00

●  Afternoon: 3:00 – 4:00

Outside these periods, interaction with cats should remain minimal.

Hygiene and safety

Please wash your hands upon arrival, especially as you will be sharing space with animals. Hand sanitiser is provided throughout the space.

Do not feed cats under any circumstances. All food and treats are controlled by our team for health and welfare reasons.

Occasionally, we may offer staff-led treat days. If you are given a treat on arrival, you may offer it during designated relaxed periods only. Treat days are chosen by our team and cannot be requested.

Voices and atmosphere

Please keep voices low at all times. This is a quiet working space. Loud conversations, phone calls, or sudden noises can be stressful for both cats and people.

Event House Rules

Our events are designed to be calming, restorative, and low-stimulation, for both guests and cats. This includes gentle yoga, breath work, sound baths, creative workshops, and quiet live music.

Focus on the event first

When attending an event, guests are expected to focus on the instructor and the session. Cats may be present in the space, but they are not the focus during the event itself. Please do not actively seek interaction with cats while the session is in progress.

If a cat approaches you naturally, enjoy the moment quietly and gently, without disrupting the event or other participants.

Hand hygiene

Please wash or sanitise your hands on arrival and again before any designated post-event cat interaction time. This helps keep our cats healthy and comfortable.

Post-event cat time

Some events will include a short, designated calm interaction period after the session, where guests may spend a little more time with the cats, always on the cats’ terms and under the same gentle rules as co-working hours.

Even after events, please:

● Keep voices low
● Never wake sleeping cats ● Never follow or corner a cat ● Never feed cats

Respect and safety

All events are intentionally calm and supportive. Any behaviour that disrupts the session, other guests, or the cats may result in a guest being asked to leave. This applies equally during and after events.

More detailed, event-specific house rules will be shared with you after booking.

A shared responsibility

When cats feel safe and respected, everyone benefits.
When the space remains calm, it supports focus, wellbeing, and community.
