ABOUT US

Who We Are

We are the team behind Munchies Craft Cat Café & Bar,

Brighton’s first cat café, where our journey began with a simple

idea: creating spaces where people and rescue cats can thrive

together. Since opening Munchies, our work has continued to

grow around one shared belief that thoughtful environments,

community, and care can benefit both humans and animals.

Purrfect Space is the next chapter of that journey. It is a calm,

cat-friendly co-working and event space in Brighton, designed for

people who value peace, focus, and emotional wellbeing, while

also providing a permanent, loving home for rescued cats. The

name PURRFECT Space comes from the gentle sound of a purr,

reflecting the atmosphere we aim to create: cosy, grounding, and

restorative.

Alongside co-working, we host a programme of feel-good events

that centre around calm, creativity, and connection. These

include creative workshops, mindful sessions, gentle movement,

and community gatherings, many of which are designed with

neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive guests in mind. We

prioritise slower pacing, softer environments, and low-pressure

social spaces, believing that when people feel relaxed and safe,

animals do too. Our events are created to support wellbeing for

both humans and cats.

Within Purrfect Space, you will also find our in-house feline

retail shop, a small, carefully curated space supporting local

artists and independent makers. Here, we focus on unique,

thoughtfully selected, cat-inspired items, offering an alternative

to mass-produced retail while celebrating creativity rooted in

compassion.

Our cat-centred work also extends into food. We recently opened

Istanbull Katz, a contemporary Turkish restaurant inspired by

modern Anatolian cuisine. At Istanbull Katz, a percentage of

profits is donated to support street cats in Istanbul, meaning that

every meal enjoyed contributes directly to helping cats in

need.

Across our café, co-working space, events, retail, and restaurant,

everything we do is connected by one purpose: building kinder

spaces where people feel supported, creativity is nurtured, and

cats are cared for with respect and love.

Welcome to Purrfect Space, part of a wider ecosystem built

around calm, community, and cats.

Our Concept

Purrfect Space is a brand-new concept in the UK, created as a

unique blend of flexible co-working, wellbeing-focused events,

and a permanent home for rescue cats. There is currently no

other space like this across the country, and we created it to meet

a growing need for calmer, more compassionate environments

where both people and animals can thrive.

At Purrfect Space, guests can work, study, or create in a serene,

cat-friendly setting, while also taking part in a carefully curated

programme of gentle, feel-good events. Our events include

calming yoga sessions, breathwork, sound baths, creative art

workshops, and quiet, supported live music experiences, all

designed to be soothing rather than stimulating.

Our programme is intentionally low-pressure and inclusive, with

particular care given to neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive

guests. We focus on softness, presence, and emotional safety,

creating experiences that feel grounding and supportive for both

humans and cats.

By bringing together mindful co-working, restorative events, and

rescue-led care under one roof, PURRFECT Space offers a truly

new alternative to conventional co-working and event venues in

the UK, rooted in calm, connection, and kindness.

Coworking Options

We offer full-day, half-day, and bundled passes. Every pass

includes:

● High-speed Wi-Fi

● Unlimited tea and coffee

● A relaxing, quiet work environment

● The company of our resident rescue cats

Rescue & Adoption

All cats at Purrfect Space are rescues, and their welfare always

comes first. Some of our resident cats have been rescued from

Turkey, including cats with disabilities or complex needs. These

cats have been through a great deal and now require long-term

stability, so Purrfect Space is their forever home. They will not

be re-homed, as we believe they deserve a secure, permanent

environment where they can live peacefully for the rest of their

lives.

Alongside our permanent residents, we also work with rescue cats

from the UK. A portion of our space is dedicated to fostering

cats who are eligible for rehoming. These cats stay with us

temporarily, experiencing a calm, home-like environment while

they wait for the right forever family.

If a guest connects with a cat who is available for adoption, they

may apply through an official adoption process. All adoptions are

handled entirely by our partner rescue charity, following UK

welfare standards and procedures. We do not make adoption

decisions ourselves. Our role is to provide a safe, enriched

environment and support the cats until they are placed in

suitable homes.

By combining permanent sanctuary care with responsible

fostering, we are able to help cats who need lifelong safety, while

also supporting the wider rescue community and helping more

cats find loving homes. This approach allows us to care deeply for

individual animals while making a positive impact across our

local community.

Events & Wellbeing Activities

Outside core coworking hours—especially weekends and evenings

—we host wellbeing-focused events such as cat yoga, art therapy,

drawing sessions, sound baths and other calming experiences.

● Events are open to the public with booking.

● Bundle members receive a special discount on event tickets.

● These activities support both our visitors’ wellbeing and our

cats’ socialisation, helping them feel loved, safe and connected.

Private Hire

Our space is available for private hire for suitable small events.

Interested guests can contact us through the website. We review

each request to ensure the event is compatible with the space and

our cats’ wellbeing.

Supporting Neurodiverse Guests

Purrfect Space is designed to be a calm, sensory-aware

environment where neuro-diverse guests can feel comfortable,

respected, and at ease. We understand that everyone experiences

spaces differently, and we aim to remove common pressures often

found in traditional work or social environments.

Our interior is intentionally kept soft and natural, using subtle,

earthy colours and materials that feel grounding rather than

stimulating. Lighting is carefully considered, with warm, gentle

light throughout the space, supported by natural daylight

coming in from our windows. We avoid harsh or overly bright

lighting, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, steady, and easy

on the senses.

We also offer quiet periods and music-free times, and many of

our events and co-working sessions are designed to remain low-

noise and low-stimulation. Clear signage around the space gently

reminds all guests to be mindful of sound levels and to treat one

another with patience and understanding.

There is no expectation of eye contact, conversation, or social

interaction. Guests are welcome to work quietly, take breaks, or

leave the space at any time without explanation. You never need

to ask permission or let anyone know if you need to step out. We

believe autonomy and personal comfort are essential to

wellbeing.

Our team is trained to offer support without drawing attention

or requiring disclosure. No one is asked to label themselves,

explain their needs, or justify their behaviour. The space is built

around acceptance rather than accommodation, allowing people

to simply be themselves.

By creating an environment that values calm, consent, and

emotional safety, we hope Purrfect Space feels genuinely

welcoming to neuro-divergent individuals, sensory-sensitive

guests, and anyone seeking a gentler way to work, connect, or

recharge, alongside our rescue cats.

Accessibility

Purrfect Space aims to be as accessible and welcoming as possible

for disabled guests and those with additional access needs.

Our main co-working space is located on the ground floor

and is fully step-free. This area includes the primary workspace,

seating areas, kitchen facilities, and an accessible toilet, all on

the same level. If needed, we can also provide a portable ramp at

the entrance to support step-free access into the building.

We do have an additional room located on a raised level, accessed

via stairs. Unfortunately, this area is not accessible for

wheelchair users or guests who are unable to use stairs.

However, all essential co-working facilities and many events take

place on the fully accessible ground floor.

If you have any specific access requirements, disabilities, or

additional needs, we kindly ask that you contact us before

booking a co-working session or event. This allows us to make

appropriate arrangements where possible and to ensure we can

support you properly during your visit. While we always do our

best to help on the day, advance notice gives us the best chance to

accommodate your needs.

Our goal is to create a space that feels supportive, respectful, and

comfortable for everyone, and we are always happy to discuss

access needs openly and without judgement.

Our Commitment to Animal Welfare

Animal welfare sits at the heart of everything we do. As a team,

we are deeply committed to providing the highest standard of

care for our rescue cats, both within the UK and beyond.

Purrfect Space operates under an official animal welfare

licence issued by Brighton & Hove City Council. Obtaining

this licence is a rigorous process and involves detailed

assessments, professional inspections, and strict compliance with

UK animal welfare legislation. These inspections are not a one-

off requirement. We are subject to regular ongoing checks, in

line with the same standards applied to registered rescue centres

and shelters.

Every aspect of our cats’ lives is carefully planned and monitored

in accordance with these regulations. This includes their diet and

feeding routines, health and wellbeing checks, veterinary care,

daily enrichment, rest periods, and overall living environment.

From what they eat and how often, to how their days are

structured, everything follows clear welfare guidance and

professional recommendations.

Our space has been thoughtfully designed with the cats’ needs in

mind. This includes dedicated play areas, climbing and exercise

spaces, quiet zones, and secure hiding spots, allowing cats to

choose how they interact with their environment and with

people. Their routines, social interaction, and rest time are

carefully balanced to reduce stress and support long-term

wellbeing.

All welfare practices at Purrfect Space are informed by

experienced animal professionals and carried out in line with UK

legislation and licensing requirements. Our responsibility is not

only to meet these standards, but to uphold them consistently,

transparently, and with genuine care.

By operating fully within the regulatory framework and

prioritising the physical and emotional wellbeing of every cat, we

aim to provide a safe, respectful, and loving environment where

rescue cats can truly thrive.

How It Works & House Rules

Our Ongoing Mission

Purrfect Space is first and foremost a co-working and wellbeing

space, designed to support focus, calm, and routine, for both

people and cats. The presence of cats is intentional and

enriching, but it is not the primary activity. These guidelines exist

to protect the wellbeing of our resident cats and to ensure a

respectful environment for everyone sharing the space.

House Rules for Co-Working Space

A space for work, not a cat café

Purrfect Space is a working environment. Guests are expected to

attend with the intention of working, studying, or creating,

just as they would in any other co-working space. This is not a

playground or a social cat café. If you are looking for a more

playful or social experience with cats, we recommend visiting a

cat café instead.

Cats may be present around you while you work, and their calm

presence is part of the experience, but guests should not attend

with the intention of spending extended time playing with or

interacting with the cats.

Respect shared focus

Please remain mindful of other guests. Excessive interaction with

cats during working hours can be disruptive to both people and

animals. Brief, gentle interactions are fine if a cat approaches you,

but stopping work to actively play with cats is not permitted

outside designated relaxed periods.

If a guest is repeatedly disturbing others or the cats, our team

may step in and, if necessary, ask the guest to leave. This is to

protect the shared working environment and the wellbeing of our

animals.

Gentle interaction, always on the cats’ terms

We never force cats to interact. Guests may only interact with a

cat if the cat chooses to approach them. Please do not call,

follow, pick up, or wake sleeping cats. If a cat settles near you,

gentle strokes are welcome as long as the cat appears relaxed and

content.

Cats live here. Their need for rest, boundaries, and personal space

must always be respected.

Designated relaxed break periods

We understand that everyone needs breaks, and guests are free to

step away from work at any time. However, we offer specific

relaxed periods called ‘’Soft Hours’’ during the day when

interaction with cats is more welcome, provided it remains calm

and gentle.

These periods are intended for quiet enjoyment, not energetic

play, and guests should still remain mindful that others may

continue working.

Soft Hours time slots:

  • Morning: 9:00 – 9:30

  • Midday: 12:00 – 13:00

  • Afternoon: 16:30 – 17:00

Outside these periods, interaction with cats should remain

minimal.

Hygiene and safety

Please wash your hands upon arrival, especially as you will be

sharing space with animals. Hand sanitiser is provided

throughout the space.

Do not feed cats under any circumstances. All food and treats are

controlled by our team for health and welfare reasons.

Occasionally, we may offer staff-led treat days. If you are given a

treat on arrival, you may offer it during designated relaxed

periods only. Treat days are chosen by our team and cannot be

requested.

Voices and atmosphere

Please keep voices low at all times. This is a quiet working space.

Loud conversations, phone calls, or sudden noises can be stressful

for both cats and people.

House Rules for Events

Our events are designed to be calming, restorative, and low-

stimulation, for both guests and cats. This includes gentle yoga,

breathwork, sound baths, creative workshops, and quiet live

music.

Focus on the event first

When attending an event, guests are expected to focus on the

instructor and the session. Cats may be present in the space,

but they are not the focus during the event itself. Please do not

actively seek interaction with cats while the session is in progress.

If a cat approaches you naturally, enjoy the moment quietly and

gently, without disrupting the event or other participants.

Hand hygiene

Please wash or sanitise your hands on arrival and again before

any designated post-event cat interaction time. This helps keep

our cats healthy and comfortable.

Post-event cat time

Some events will include a short, designated calm interaction

period after the session, where guests may spend a little more

time with the cats, always on the cats’ terms and under the same

gentle rules as co-working hours.

Even after events, please:

  • Keep voices low

  • Never wake sleeping cats

  • Never follow or corner a cat

  • Never feed cats

Respect and safety

All events are intentionally calm and supportive. Any behaviour

that disrupts the session, other guests, or the cats may result in a

guest being asked to leave. This applies equally during and after

events.

More detailed, event-specific house rules will be shared with you

after booking.

A shared responsibility

When cats feel safe and respected, everyone benefits.

When the space remains calm, it supports focus, wellbeing, and

community.

Thank you for helping us protect the animals who call this place

home, and for respecting Purrfect Space as the calm working and

wellbeing environment it is meant to be.

Across all our ventures, our dedication remains the same: to

create meaningful, ethical and sustainable ways to support cats in

need around the world. Every project we take on is shaped by the

same principle—doing what we can, wherever we can, to improve

the lives of animals who cannot advocate for themselves.
