Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax planning Talk | 23/04/26 | 18:00 - 19:00

£10.00

Rebecca Griffiths of Dean Wilson LLP is giving a 1 hour presentation to raise legal awareness on the benefits of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax planning.

Planning for the future isn’t just about finances — it’s about protecting the people and the life you’ve worked hard to build. In this one‑hour session, we’ll cut through the jargon and explain the real‑world benefits of having a well‑structured Will, putting Lasting Powers of Attorney in place, and understanding how smart Inheritance Tax planning can safeguard your estate.

You’ll learn:

  • Why a Will matters more than you think — and what happens if you don’t have one

  • How Lasting Powers of Attorney work and why they’re essential long before you need them

  • Practical steps to reduce Inheritance Tax and pass on more of your estate to loved ones

  • Common pitfalls people face when planning (or avoiding planning) for the future

Whether you’re getting started or reviewing existing arrangements, this session gives you the clarity and confidence to make informed decisions that protect your wishes and your family.

🐾 House Rules for Session

Our sessions take place in the shared home of our resident rescue cats. These guidelines are here to ensure a calm, safe, and respectful experience for both attendees and cats.

📚 During the Session

Please follow the guidance shared by the presenter at the beginning of the session, including any house rules relating to the cats.

The session is designed to be calm and focused. If at any point a cat comes too close and you feel it could become distracting or unsafe, please pause and take a moment before continuing to engage.

You may gently redirect a cat if you feel comfortable doing so, but this is not expected. The presenter or a member of staff will be available to help if needed.

Please do not pick up, grab, or carry cats around the room.

Try to remain focused on the session content and allow the cats to go about their own business — resting, observing, or playing independently.

🐾 General Interaction Guidelines

Always sanitise your hands before engaging with the cats.

Avoid disturbing cats who are sleeping or relaxing. This is their home, and we want them to feel safe and at ease.

Please do not pick up cats.

Please do not chase cats or force interaction.

If you’d like to interact, allow the cat to approach you first. Offer a finger for them to sniff and only gently stroke them if they show clear signs of comfort.

Do not force cuddles or handling — quiet presence is often more enjoyable for them.

You’re welcome to use the toys provided, while remaining mindful and calm.

Please give cats plenty of space and allow them to move freely.

Do not feed the cats — they are all on specific diets.

Please speak softly and keep noise levels low.

💛 Thank You

By following these guidelines, you help us create a peaceful, safe environment where both people and cats can feel comfortable while engaging in this session together. Thank you for respecting our space and our cats’ home.
